When you hear the phrase ‘Famous Last Words’ it is usually in reference to words one would later regret, or dare I say, come back to haunt them. Not to actual Famous Last Words, Quotes of the Departed. Here I have compiled a list of the supposed last words spoken by well-known historical figures. I say supposed as I have no way of knowing, first hand, whether they uttered these final words on their death bead or not, for (quick disclosure statement) I was not present at the time of their passing.
Some of the people featured here were classed as quite controversial and others were widely loved and revered. Every person has a story and while we do gravitate toward the lives of famous figures, I also love to learn of the lives lived by regular folk. So if you have any famous last words or words of wisdom from loved ones who have now passed, please share them in the comments below. I would love to read them, as would other readers I am sure!
I made a creative for each one and you are free to copy the images and share them on your social media channels with a link back to this page.
