The character that inspired this Scary Smiley Makeup Tutorial is from the 2012 slasher film aptly named ‘Smiley’. The storyline surrounds a modern-day urban legend. The internet myth constitutes that if someone on a Chatroulette-style website writes “I did it for the lulz” three times their chat partner will is murdered by a serial killer named Smiley.
The catchphrase serves to explain any trolling or mayhem you cause online. Smiley was named due to brutally mutilating his own face by sewing his eyes shut and carving his mouth into a permanent smile……gross I know.
